I went to a high school basketball game tonight, to get fun action shots of my cousin Meems cheering, and to find excuses to say "action shot" a lot, and to make a fuss over getting action shots of the cute male athletes that are currently vying for her affection, and the glisten of teen-boy sweat on their toned little manchild guns...you know, for HER records, but couldn't take CRAP with my camera. I never really paid attention in photography classes when it was discussed how to take your action shots with no blur in low light at 2oo mm. Very very annoyed.
I ended up on forums reading other people's bitching about the same thing, and then reading through the umpteeth circle of photo-jargon hell until I gave up and read Wonkette.
But Lone Peak won.
But Lone Peak won.
And if it weren't for me and Annie going to these games, we would not have stumbled upon Annie's terrifically awesome realization about creepy, 27-33 year old, age-inappropriate fixation on young, college-bound boys. Something she named "Holyfielding."
Remember The One Where Rachel is drawn to everything around her that is male, in her late stages of pregnancy, and Phoebe empathizes with a story about being freakishly aroused by Evander Holyfield, and gives Rachel a life-size Evander cardboard cutout with a big YOU'RE WELCOME. The ruddy-faced Senior boys scuffing around and sweating and intimately guarding each other seemed to get us both all in a tizzy of girlishness. And Annie thought maybe it was just the pregnancy (which is great, but she kind of left me holding the creepyness bag there, since I don't have any hormones to blame).
At sushi after Wednesday night's game:
Me: I'm totally Holyfielding over the busboy.
Annie: Mmm. (Although, it was less creepy than it looks in written form here, in Annie's defense).
Me: Meems, get that.
Meems did not get that, but it didn't stop me from being heinously inappropriate throughout the meal with my gawking.
So here's to you, Meems. Hit that. For us. Hit that to the lengths your Strength of Youth pamphlet will allow.

(Hint: She has been romantically involved with two of these pieces of cute). And by romantic, I mean, totally flirting while they played Rock Band.

So....your blog is a very entertaining read and you had me laughing out loud more than once. However, I find myself feeling like a complete idiot and your vocabulary requires me to consult Webster!
You are too cute and it was sooooo good to see you last weekend! You look amazing. You are amazing and I hope this boy toy of yours (ReBF)knows how great you are!!!
So JJ and I went to dinner at some place near Heber that is supposed to be the shiz and I just don't remember what it was called and don't really care. Anyway, the Austrian ski team was sitting at the table next to us. I found myself thinking, those boys are HOT! Hot! Hot! And I talked to JJ about it and how I could possibly get in their, whatever. And than I came to the realization that I was like 10 years older than them and returned to my cougar hole.
Tee hee hee hee! I am giddy over the pictures you posted. I would blame the impending baby, but no- they are just delightfully fun to look at. SO don't feel like you are holding the perv bag. At least you are hot and single. I am happily married and currently the size of a tank. Why size makes it more inappropriate, I'm not sure. It just does.
I even had a dream complete with hormonal, high-school crush feelings about Meems dating "Emilio". It was pathetically satisfying. So much so that today I coached, er, coerced her into making my dream come true with him. Her with him, let's not be gross here. Can't wait for details.
i'll admit it, i've totally, what did you call it, holyfielding?, either way, i've done that.
and i kind believe i'm admitting this, but i had a REALLY awkward dream about one of my football player students....was that too socially unacceptable to type? sorry.
anyway, don't take this the wrong way, but i am now sort of obsessed with your blog.
end of novel.
